Headboard/Footboard to Bench Transformation!!

I'm very proud of this re-do...it all started with a trip to the Habitat Re-Store in Brevard, NC.  This lonely headboard was just begging me to buy it and at the time I didn't have a clue what to do with it.  The railings came with it too.  I thought that trying to sell a single twin bed frame may be difficult so this stayed at the cabin for months until we recently went up there when my cute nephew came to town.

After searching on Pinterest for some ideas I came across transforming this headboard into a bench - how clever!

We even got Haydyn to help...

Haydyn & I tested it out to make sure it will hold weight:)

Could he be any cuter?
We used the footboard for arm rests...

Uncle Trey paid Haydyn with his world famous bbq ribs...I lost count as to how many he ate...LOL!
We packed the bench up and took it back to Simpsonville and I FINALLY finished it today!

I am planning on taking this piece to re-Runs tomorrow morning.

I already know of a few new pieces that I will be adding in July, but for now I am beach bound!!!

Have a great 4th of July!

It's a Keeper

I've become a regular at Goodwill...check out my end table re-do that I've decided to keep.

I found this table the other day - nothing special about it except it is very sturdy.

Of course the first thing to do was sand it.  I decided to just sand the top of it down to the original wood because I was going to stain the top and paint the body of it.

Stained the top a darker brown stain and painted the body a beige color.

I did a little different form of distressing on this piece.  I put stain over the paint and quickly wiped it off.

I LOVE using something I already have on hand...I used the knobs off of the dresser re-do I did recently!

And here is the before & after...the top looks a reddish color in this pic but it is dark brown.

And here it is already in its new home...this is where I sit every morning drinking my coffee - I think I'm really going to enjoy the drawer to hide all my junk.

That pic did not turn out great but I think you can see how good it looks.  The table that was there is now on its way to re-Runs!!!

Whatcha think?

Refurbished End Table

I found this piece months ago at Goodwill...I loved it when I saw it, but it has been in the garage for months.  I knew it was going to take many hours to get it looking good.

Had to start with some sanding.

It took me a while to decide on a color, but I decided to go with this moss greenish color, distressed it a little & changed out the hardware to black.

I LOVE it!  I've got 3 more pieces sitting in my garage waiting for a re-do...if I would ever stay at home maybe I could get started...LOL!

Leaving tomorrow for a trip to MS to see family for a few days:)

My First Dresser Redo!

Wanted to share with you my first dresser redo!!  So much fun but took a little time.  Trey actually picked this dresser up for me on his way back from Spartanburg about a month ago and it has been sitting in the garage just being stared at by me.  So about a week ago I decided it was time to get started.

Here's the before pic - as you can see it needs a little TLC.

In its day there was a mirror that went with it...couldn't decide whether to leave the little boxes on top or not, but ultimately decided to take them off - which resulted in much sanding afterwards.  At this point I wasn't sure if this was the right decision.

But after alot of sanding you can start to see the potential:)

More sanding was done, then decided it was time to start painting.

A little distressing and some new hardware.

Last coat of stain on the top.  Can you believe that's the same top?!!!

I LOVE IT!!  I've got to get Trey to work a little on the drawers so they pull out better and off to re-Runs it goes!!

Actually went the other day to change things up a little...and add a couple of more things.

Just call me a "Junk Connoisseur"

Look at this adorable tshirt my cute mother-in-law sent me the other day.

I added a few more items to reRuns yesterday...here's a pic of my first attempt at reupholstering and distressing a chair.  Got this chair at Goodwill, but unfortunately forgot to take a before pic!  It was light wood with a cream and tan quilted covering.  Recovered it with the fabric that Mr. Whitley cut for me:)

And a few more miscellaneous items - another window, wreath, key holder, white wicker planter, lantern, etc.

WOW - hard to believe re-Runs has been in business for 2 months already!  I'm not getting rich, but having a blast & making some spending money.

Treasures from my grandmother's house

As most of you know I'm just now returning from a week long cruise!  We had an awesome time!  Before heading home I went to be grandmother's old house and found some treasures for re-Runs.

My grandmother was so talented.

My dad made the bench.
Love these old Prince Albert cans.
Custom made by my dad!

My niece, Macie, made the beaded flowers to hang around:)

I loved going through the house and planning another trip home in April for some more treasures!  I'll be taking these items to re-Runs tomorrow!
